When Tom Krause started his career as a CPA, it’s hard to believe he could’ve imagined how far his professional journey would take him over the course of more than three decades.

A year after Tom and his professional partner at the time, Bob Schmitz, decided to start their own CPA firm, they merged offices with fellow CPA Jack Corrigan, thus setting the foundation for what would become Corrigan Krause CPAs and Consultants in Rocky River, Ohio. The firm now proudly employs over 120 people. Corrigan Krause CPAs and Consultants is currently ranked as the 308th largest firm out of the 55,000+ that are in practice in the United States (as of 2025).

Chief Growth Officer and former President & CEO Tom Harrison has worked with Tom Krause for many years. “From day one, Tom added to my enjoyment and enthusiasm for our firm and public accounting overall,” he said. “Tom has helped in so many ways to make the last 30 years a truly fun and fruitful run.”

“Tom’s tremendous work ethic inspired all of us to roll up our sleeves and put in the extra effort,” Principal Jack Corrigan said. “We all put in the effort necessary to provide outstanding client service, teaching our employees along the way so that they can do the same.”

Tom has never wavered in the level of care and attention he provided to his clients and our firm.

“Tom has set the standard for what it means to be a trusted advisor at Corrigan Krause,” President and CEO Aaron Apathy said.

That standard truly sets the tone for our whole firm.

“A large part of CK’s current culture can be attributed to Tom,” Supervisor Daniel Beaton said. “The vision he has for the firm, the way he treats others, and the relationships with his employees can be seen in so many people throughout the firm.”

Michelle Broschk, Executive Assistant and Billing Manager, said, “Tom really helped develop a culture of learning and family at Corrigan Krause.”

“He has been a sponge of learning from some of the more seasoned professionals over the years,” Tom Harrison said. “Which has made him a such a great client service executive.”

Tom has always prioritized meeting with his clients regularly to review their goals for today and plan for the future.

“Tom’s care for his clients is unmatched. He works tirelessly to help each one, whether it is understanding their financials or finding ways to save money. He really works to understand their business and how he can help them,” Director Chris Eichmuller said.

Tom takes that care and really excels at being able to create maximum value out of anything and everything for his clients. “The ideas that Tom has come up with during consulting meetings to help clients grow and continue to expand operations are inspiring,” Supervisor Kelsey Yusko said.

But it’s not just his clients that Tom supports and develops. It’s also the Corrigan Krause team. He involves younger staff as well so they can learn from his years of experience.

“Tom helped me develop the right mindset when meeting with clients, moving from being reactive to a truly proactive advisor,” Aaron said.

Kelsey echoed Aaron’s experience. “Tom has taught an entire generation at CK how to be consultants as well as accountants, and how to help clients outside of the normal financial statement/tax return services.”

Chris, along with Aaron, started her career in public accounting as an intern at Corrigan Krause and worked her way up in the firm. Both have first-hand experience with Tom’s mentorship.

“Tom enjoys teaching staff and walking them through preparing for meetings or going over tax returns/financials to understand the numbers and relay to the clients. He’s great at building relationships,” Chris said.

Aaron uses what he learned from Tom every day, “He mentored through example. Watching how he asked questions, listened, and guided clients has had a lasting impact on how I operate day to day.”

“The thing I will remember most about working with Tom is his ability to help others grow and the trust he places in those around him,” Daniel said. “He gives everyone the opportunity to succeed and treats others like family.”

As Tom embarks on the next exciting chapter of his life, the whole Corrigan Krause team promises to keep true to his philosophy on life, “Work Hard and Be Kind.”
