Congratulations for earning a spot on Engage! Cleveland’s 26 in 26 Honoree list, Montell!

Montell Martin is a Supervisor in our Tax Department and excels every day. After joining Corrigan Krause in January 2022, he quickly set a new and higher bar for the level of client service for our team. He is a huge part of why Corrigan Krause has such a high level of service for clients. Montell treats every client and every detail like they are the most important work he will do that day. Not satisfied with just his own success, Montell helps his colleagues reach his gold standard through trainings and mentorship. His attention to detail, patience, and ability to see a clear path to achieve client goals earned him a spot on most of our largest and most important client teams.

What sets Montell apart from other excellent CPAs is his passion and dedication to helping his team succeed. In the short three years since joining our firm, Montell has become the go-to tax team trainer. He is the Tax Department’s new hire trainer, making him one of the first leaders new Tax Department hires meet. That relationship and investment continues as Montell leads fundamental tax trainings throughout the year that range from basic how-tos for associates to higher-level process and software trainings. On a daily basis, Montell takes time to complete one-on-one trainings to ensure the tax team develops and builds their skills so our clients experience the very highest level of service. He has a rare gift of mixing the perfect balance of direct honesty with support to push his team to be their best.

As part of the Emerging Professionals at Corrigan Krause (EP@CK) group, Montell is a mentor for two Tax Associates. One of these mentees was struggling to meet his production and skill goals. Montell focused on really pushing this Tax Associate so the associate could see just how much he actually was capable of and how to go about charting his own path forward. Montell’s honesty and relatability helped this Tax Associate dramatically increase his abilities and production over the course of the year.

Montell takes his passion for public accounting and generously shares it with the next generation of CPAs at Corrigan Krause. His direct and supportive leadership style inspires our staff to learn more to provide an ever-higher service level to our clients. Our clients are the small to mid-size closely-held local businesses who are building the communities we live in. Montell’s leadership truly is integral to the health and sustainability of these businesses. We’re so proud he’s part of the Corrigan Krause team and look forward to him building his own leadership skills and continuing to invest in our employees so we may all invest back into our clients. Montell is also part of CK’s Busy Season Intern Buddy Program. Every year, Montell’s buddies credit his patience, knowledge, and support for their success during the season. Last year, Montell helped his buddy develop and build her skills to such a high degree that she was hired as a full-time Associate immediately following the conclusion of her internship.

Montell has been the proud winner of the Corrigan Krause Tax Department’s Triple Threat award for the last three years. After the tax filing deadline in April, our tax team tallies up the different types of productivity of every team member. The Triple Threat Award went to Montell in 2024 and 2025 because he far exceeded expectations in three critical areas: billable hours, realization, and utilization. This is all while showing up for his fellow tax pros to support their learning and development.

In addition to Montell’s amazing training, mentoring, and leadership skills, he’s also an avid pickleball player.
